About Louisiana Gives©
Louisiana Gives© (formerly Louisiana Community Marketplace) was founded in September 2010 and officially launched in August 2011 at the Annual Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) conference in New Orleans. Louisiana Gives© is owned and operated by Baton Rouge nonprofit HOPE Ministries, a Capital Area United Way partner agency and LANO member. Louisiana Gives© is sponsored in part by ExxonMobil Baton Rouge and has been partially funded by the Wilson Foundation. The purpose of Louisiana Gives© is to raise funds for Louisiana nonprofit organizations, schools and churches. Every purchase made through Louisiana Gives© directly benefits our participating nonprofit organizations through the payment of commissions by participating online stores.
The process is simple:
- Choose your cause. (Your choice will be remembered for subsequent visits, or you can change your cause anytime.)
- Start shopping.
- Your cause earns donation with every purchase you make.
Louisiana Gives© is an affiliate of various online stores. When you make a purchase at any of the online stores featured on Louisiana Gives©, the online store pays Louisiana Gives© a commission for referring you to the store. The revenues generated by these commissions are then distributed to the nonprofit organization you chose before making your purchase. If you were referred to Louisiana Gives© by a particular nonprofit organization by email, you were directed to a particular landing page which automatically tracks your purchase to the referring nonprofit organization.
